Constantan conductors

Constantan is the property name of a copper-nickel alloy. These conductors consist of 55% copper and 45% nickel. Constantan has an extraordinarily strong negative Seebeck coefficient above 0°C, leading to a good temperature sensitivity.

There are various characteristics which make constantan special. The main characteristic of this alloy is that the thermal variation of its resistivity is constant over a wide range of temperatures. Furthermore, it is resistant to atmospheric corrosion. It can be easily molded or soldered, and the alloy is easy to bend. These characteristics show that constantan is the most versatile alloy available.
